Prime Infra, MPIC, SMC join waste-to-energy auction
In the Philippines, Business Times reported that the local government’s special green energy auction (GEA) round for waste-to-energy (WTE) projects has attracted 11 qualified bidders covering 14 projects.
The Department of Energy (DoE) said in an advisory that it had issued the list of qualified bidders after deliberations by the Green Energy Auction-Bids Evaluation and Awards Committee.
Among the bidders are companies backed by Prime Infrastructure Capital, Inc. (Prime Infra), Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), and San Miguel Corp. (SMC).
Other qualified bidders include Manila Integrated Environment Corp., Green Atom Renewable Energy Corp., LECRA Eco Sustain Philippines, Inc., International Solid Waste Integrated Management Specialist, Inc., Forza Development Corp., North Maharlika Energy Corp., San Mateo Sanitary Landfill and Development Corp., and the City Government of Davao, according to the report.
The DoE is set to conduct an auction dedicated to WTE projects this year, offering 400 megawatts of capacity as part of efforts to address the country’s solid-waste management challenges while adding power supply, the report added.
