Kansas corn and soybean yields to drop in 2026, USDA says
In Iowa, Successful Farming reported that the Kansas corn condition has slipped to 31% poor to very poor, while 24% of Kansas soybeans are currently rated poor to very poor, according to the USDA latest Crop Progress report.
The 2026 Crop Production report forecasts the Kansas corn yields are expected to drop 19 bushels per acre (bpa) from an average of 145 bpa in 2025 to 126 bpa in 2026.
According to the report, Kansas farmers are expected to harvest 831.6 million bushels of corn across 6.6 million acres. In 2025, 942.5 million bushels were produced across 6.5 million acres, USDA said.
The Crop Production also report forecasts the Kansas soybean yields are expected to drop 10.5 bpa from an average of 48.5 bpa in 2025 to 38 bpa in 2026.
Kansas farmers are expected to harvest 178.22 million bushels of soybeans across 4.69 million acres. In 2025, about 196.43 million bushels of soybeans were produced across 4.05 million acres, according to the report.
