Eastern China inland methanol container ship enters service
In China, Zhejiang Province’s first methanol direct propulsion inland container ship, Dingli Ji 001, entered service August 20 at Haining’s Xingguang terminal on Jiaxing’s canal network linking inland ports with Hangzhou Bay.
The 64 TEU vessel burns methanol directly and has a range of up to 1,000 kilometers, sufficient for major inland container routes. It will operate between Zhapu Port on Hangzhou Bay and inland terminals at Xiasha and Haining.
Operator Zhejiang Dingli Shipping plans to add 30 methanol direct propulsion vessels over the next five years.
