Lemissoler names first two methanol dual-fuel bulkers
In Cyprus, Cyprus Shipping News reports dry bulk shipowner Lemissoler Navigation named the methanol dual-fuel ships Lem Azalea and Lem Plumeria, the first vessels in the company’s four ship alternative fuel newbuilding program. Both vessels will be chartered to Cargill.
The dry bulk carriers built for Lemissoler in China by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong can run on methanol or conventional marine fuel. Their Lem65ePlus design combines an optimized hull with more efficient propulsion, energy-saving equipment and modern environmental systems.
Lemissoler developed the vessels with Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute. The design received Approval in Principle from American Bureau of Shipping in 2023.
