U.S. ethanol production reaches near-record high

In Washington, Brownfield Ag News reports U.S. Energy Information Administration data shows ethanol production climbed to 1.133 million barrels per day last week, the second-highest weekly average on record. Production increased by 39,000 barrels per day from the previous week and 37,000 from a year earlier, supported by favorable ethanol margins and strong corn demand. Ethanol inventories rose for a fourth straight week to 24.726 million barrels, while exports slipped to 137,000 barrels per day. The USDA will release its updated forecast for corn used in ethanol production on August 12.
