Australian cattle farm tests pongamia trees for future SAF production
In Australia, ABC Business reports that a cattle ranch in north Queensland is participating in a trial to grow pongamia trees alongside livestock, exploring a new feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Conducted with JetZero Australia’s SilvoPlus program, the project aims to identify the best way to integrate grazing with pongamia cultivation while diversifying farm income. JetZero plans to build a biorefinery in Townsville capable of producing about 100 million liters of SAF and renewable diesel annually. Construction could begin after financial close later this year as global demand for SAF continues to grow.
