UK outlines first SAF revenue support strategy

July 20, 2026 |

In the UK, the government has published its contract allocation strategy for the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Revenue Certainty Mechanism, designed to provide long-term revenue support for first-of-a-kind domestic SAF projects and encourage investment. The first allocation round is expected to open in early 2027, with contracts awarded from late 2028, supporting up to 230,000 metric tons of annual production capacity. The government will prioritize deliverable, cost-effective projects without reserving funding for specific technologies, while using competitive bidding and negotiated contracts to accelerate development of a domestic SAF industry.
