Petrobras to proceed with $1.2bn biofuels facility at Cubatão refinery
In Brazil, Yahoo Finance reported that Petrobras has received board approval for its final investment decision (FID) on a new biofuels facility at its Presidente Bernardes Refinery (RPBC) in Cubatão, São Paulo state in Brazil.
The decision will see the company allocate approximately $1.2bn to develop a dedicated plant for producing bio-jet fuel and renewable diesel, according to the report.
Petrobras will now enter the final contracting phase and initiate the execution of relevant agreements for the project, it added.
Construction on the new facility is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026, with operations targeted to commence in 2030.
The biorefining plant is designed to have a maximum production capacity of 15,000 barrels per day (bpd) of renewable fuels, including bio-jet fuel and renewable diesel.
