China’s Guofuhee plans $30 million investment in 1GW Moroccan electrolyzer plant
In the UK, Gas World reported that China’s Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment (Guofuhee) plans to invest $30 million in a 1GW electrolyzer factory in Morocco.
Announced as the Chinese OEM unveiled “North Africa’s first” clean hydrogen energy demonstration system, the move follows a recent $11 million deal to deploy 20MW of electrolyzers and five hydrogen refueling stations in the country, according to the report.
Guofuhee said the pilot energy system, which integrates solar-powered hydrogen production, storage, and grid-connected power generation, was a step toward “deeply embedding” Chinese equipment in Morocco’s national hydrogen strategy.
Details around the timeline of any local manufacturing have not been confirmed. However, it comes as Morocco intends to scale domestic green hydrogen production to 10 million tons per year by 2050, the report added.
