50 Hottest Companies in the Bioeconomy 2026, Nominations are open

April 6, 2026 |

In Florida, The Digest announced the official opening of nominations for the 50 Hottest Companies in the Bioeconomy for 2026.

Voting Rules

Voting and nominations are open to all registered Digest subscribers and ABLC delegates.

Nominations

Hot 50 nominations will begin Tuesday, April 7, 2026 and continue through Friday, May 1, 2026 at 5pm ET.  You can make nominations here. As a courtesy, ABLC attending organizations are automatically added to the ballot.

Voting period

First round Hot 50 voting will begin Monday, May 4th 2026 and continue through Friday, May 29, 2026 at 5pm ET.

Second round Hot 50 (photo) voting will begin Monday, June 1 and continue through Friday, June 19, 2026 at 5pm ET.

Announcement of Hot 50 results will be made on Tuesday June 23, 2026 in The Daily Digest.

First Round Voting

First round voting will be exclusively by ballot voting on the official ballot by registered Digest subscribers, who can vote for as many organizations on the ballot as they like. The 50 highest vote getters will advance to the second round of voting.

Second round voting

Second round voting will be exclusively by photo voting and will be restricted to the 50 organizations advancing from the first voting round. Photo votes will be used to determine the ranking of the Hot 50 from #1 through #50.

Photo votes can be submitted by email or posted on Instagram or LinkedIn with a hashtag of #Hot502026. All photos receive one point, except 10 points will be awarded each voting day to the most creative photo vote. Photo votes must contain the name or logo of the organization and somewhere must say “Hot 50”, and must be a materially original image (e..g. pasting a logo on an on-original work of art does not count), and the image must be owned or created by the person or team submitting. Photos generated by AI are allowed as long as they conform to the other rules.

Voting Links to the Ballot

Registered voters will receive a link to their official ballot via the Daly Digest each day during the first round of voting.

Write-in votes

If there is a deserving company that did not register for the Official Ballot, voters are welcome to cast a write-in vote for that company.

Voting criteria

Voters may judge for themselves what makes a company “hot”.

In our view, we believe that “hot” represents an ideal blend of visibility and credibility. Companies that are substantive but unknown may be credible, but they are not hot. Likewise, companies that are widely-known but hyped are visible, but not hot. Hot is not the same as “best” – nor is it the same as “popular” – and the Rankings are neither intended to be a popularity contest nor a quality rating system.

Prohibited voting practices

Prohibited voting practices include but are not limited to: creating multiple digital accounts in order to submit multiple ballots; using faked or borrowed digital accounts to submit multiple ballots in violation of daily ballot restrictions; or encouraging potential voters to create, borrow to otherwise use multiple digital accounts in order to submit multiple ballots.

The Digest reserves the right to reject any ballot it deems to be the product of a probited voting practice — or to cancel all ballots from that voter, or remove a company from the competition — and such a determination will be made in the Digest’s sole discretion, and its decision is final.

In general, any practice designed to prevent a fair ballot is prohibited, and may result in the suspension of a company from the Hot 50 or the cancellation of any and all ballots which the Digest, in its sole discretion, deems to be tainted.

Permitted voting practices

Companies or individuals may exhort colleagues, friends or the general public to vote for a deserving company or to remember to register to vote – campaigning for the Hot 50 is not prohibited so long as the voting itself is fair and ethical. Voters are permitted to vote for companies they are personally, directly or indirectly, affiliated with.
