In the Netherlands, Offshore Energy reports Singapore-based X-Press Feeders placed an order for six methanol-ready, scrubber-fitted containerships with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in China, scheduled for delivery between Q3 2027 and Q4 2028.
This latest order is part of X-Press Feeders’ fleet renewal strategy, aimed at enhancing eco-friendly operations. The 11,000 TEU containerships will be equipped with scrubbers and various energy-saving technologies to reduce fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability. These new ships follow an earlier contract for four similar vessels, signed in May 2024.
X-Press Feeders has also been at the forefront of adopting green methanol as a sustainable fuel. The company recently launched Europe’s first methanol-powered feeder network, servicing key routes from Rotterdam and Antwerp to Finland and the Baltics. Methanol, as a fuel, offers the potential to cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 65% compared to conventional marine fuels.
