Wilson Sons to test HVO for marine sector for ANP

January 30, 2025 |

In Brazil, Wilson Sons received this month the request from ANP for the first tests of use of HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) in the Brazilian maritime sector, with efen and Port of Açu as partners. The HVO will be imported by efen for testing in Wilson Sons tumblings, operating in the Port of Açu, in São João da Barra (RJ), replacing marine diesel oil. The liquid handling operation will be carried out at the Açu Liquid Terminal (TLA), Vast Infrastructure.

The study with green diesel in Açu provides for efficiency tests, effects on maintenance processes and reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Fuel use can reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 80%, considering the complete life cycle of the input.
