In Brazil, AgroLink reported that the area allocated to wheat cultivation in Brazil is expected to be reduced in the next harvest, according to an analysis by the International Center for Economic Analysis and Agricultural Market Studies (Ceema),
The report noted that planting of the new crop has begun in the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais. According to the April report by the National Supply Company (Conab), the national cultivated area is expected to decline by 9.3%, totaling 2.77 million hectares. The estimated average productivity is 3,060 kilos per hectare, 18.5% above that recorded in 2024. With this, national production could reach 8.47 million tons, an increase of 7.4% compared to the previous harvest.
The report also highlighted that local consultancy StoneX estimates even greater production, with a projection of 8.6 million tons for the 2025/26 harvest.
In Paraná, one of the main producing states, producers indicate a 16% reduction in the planted area, estimated at 1.05 million hectares, the report added.
