In Canada, Waga Energy has commissioned Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production at the Hartland landfill site in British Columbia. The project, carried out in partnership with Capital Regional District (CRD) and FortisBC, is the first facility of its kind on Vancouver Island The recovery unit uses WAGABOX technology to transform the gas produced by decomposing waste into RNG that can be injected into FortisBC’s distribution network.
Project highlights:
– Annual production capacity: up to 360,000 gigajoules of RNG
– Estimated GHG emission reduction: 475,000 metric tons of CO₂ over 25 years
This project is in line with the climate objectives of British Columbia, contributing to the reduction of fossil gas use through the injection of locally sourced renewable gas.
