In Spain, El Economista reported that Spanish low-cost airline Vueling is seeking several partners to create a “demonstration plant” to develop SAF on a larger scale.
“So far, we’ve only produced several batches. We’re exploring the creation of a new company for continuous production,” said Vueling’s director of sustainability, Franc Sanmartí.
Between 2023 and 2024, Vueling increased its supply of SAF tenfold, according to the report.
The report also noted that Vueling is collaborating with Seduco to promote SAF from agricultural waste, specifically with slurry and a desert plant called guayule, which is used during crop fallow.
