In Germany, Van Oord’s dredger Vox Ariane has bunkered bio-LNG for the first time on the Elbe River, adding cleaner fuel to a fleet in transition.
The Dutch marine contractor, first in its sector to have climate goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, is shifting vessels toward alternative fuels under its net-zero plan. The bunkered bio-LNG carried ISCC EU certification, verifying compliance with European Union requirements for sustainable fuels.
Van Oord says the bunkering marks a milestone in its emissions strategy, which also includes modernizing its fleet, deploying zero-emission equipment, and working with suppliers to expand access to lower-carbon fuels.
