In Mexico, Transponder 1200 reported that Viva Aerobus , Mexico’s low-cost airline, has started starting to use SAF produced by Neste, on its flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
This agreement, signed in 2023, includes the purchase of one million liters of this sustainable fuel, which will be mixed with conventional fuel to be used in air operations. The airline has implemented this initiative as part of its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future in aviation, according to the report.
SAF will begin to be used on flights from LAX to key destinations in Mexico, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Merida. Each flight operated with this fuel will feature a blend that includes approximately 35% Neste MY SAF, the report added.
