In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that the POWERtoDEUTZ project, implemented by DEUTZ Spain at its facilities in Zafra, Extremadura, is scheduled to start operating on 26 February, making the goal of producing and supplying green hydrogen to a combustion engine integrated into the plant’s generator set a reality. The report noted that VINCI Energies Spain, through INOVE INGENIERÍA, has been responsible for the basic and detailed engineering of the pilot unit, as well as for the technical management of the project’s execution. Desiree Bragado, Head of Plant Engineering and Green Manager at DEUTZ Spain, said: “POWERtoDEUTZ is a project that strengthens DEUTZ Spain’s commitment to sustainability and the responsible use of energy. “We will continue to work to showcase this incredible technology and the uses that can be made of it.” “The first challenge, from an engineering perspective, has been to understand the project in an integrated manner, defining and validating the different components and equipment that form part of the overall process,” said Antonio Ros Mateo, Head of Renewable Gases Engineering at VINCI Energies Spain. During the basic engineering phase, VINCI Energies Spain was responsible for establishing the bases for the plant design, the layout of the equipment and the general structure, as well as drafting the project for the City Council and defining the selection of equipment. In the detailed engineering phase, the technical documentation was developed, including the electrical, process and civil engineering plans, as well as safety studies (HAZOP).
