In Vietnam, VietnamNet reports the national biofuels association has asked the Prime Minister and the Minister of Industry and Trade to swiftly implement a 10% ethanol blending mandate for both fuel types currently sold in the country in order to boost ethanol imports from the US by 1 million metric tons annually. It is also seeking a 0% tariff on the imports compared to the current 99% tariff that was meant to protect the domestic industry. The $1 billion worth of imports would be in addition to the domestically produced ethanol that comes from cassava.
