In India, the ANI news agency reports the US Trade Reprsentative has gone after both India and Thailand via the social media platform X, accusing the countries of unfair trade practices against the United States. India has a ban on ethanol imports since the country is major producer and currently blending 20% ethanol into gasoline using its own supplies. It is aiming to head towards more in the future. On the other hand, though Thailand doesn’t have a ban on imports, it hasn’t approved an import license for fuel ethanol since 2005. The USTR called out eight other countries and trade blocs for their supposed unfair trade activities as well.
