In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that the University of Tulsa (UTulsa) and its venture capital arm, Hurricane Ventures, have invested in Tobe Energy, a local start-up developing a new class of electrolyser that is membrane-free.

Tobe Energy is working on a novel system that seeks to simplify the production process, reduce costs by up to 75% and cut waste heat. Its technology is designed for large-scale applications in industries like energy, manufacturing and transportation.

“Our mission is simple but ambitious: make hydrogen production so efficient and affordable it drives the transition to a low-carbon economy,” said Tobe Energy CEO Colby DeWeese.

The financial details of the investment were not disclosed.
