UK investigates possible unfair competition from US biodiesel imports

In the UK, the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) initiated an anti-dumping investigation and a countervailing investigation on Monday into imports of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) biodiesel from the United States of America. The investigations follow an application from UK biodiesel producers concerned that the market has changed since a previous review in 2022. Recent evidence suggests that the price gap has narrowed and HVO may now be competing directly with UK-produced biodiesel.

The investigations will determine whether imports of HVO are being sold at unfairly low prices or being subsidized, and causing harm to UK industry.
