In Ukraine, UkrAgro Consult reported that U.S. President Donald Trump said China may increase its purchases of American soybeans following a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. According to Trump, the discussion with the Chinese leader was “excellent,” and the parties talked about prospects for expanding agricultural trade between the two countries.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump noted that China could buy about 20 million tons of soybeans in the current season and up to 25 million tons in the next marketing year. He also confirmed plans to visit China in April, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the world’s two largest economies.
Market analysts point out that the proposed purchase volumes exceed earlier arrangements, which provided for shipments of around 12 million tons of U.S. soybeans in the current season, according to the report.
