In Japan, EOG Asia reported that TRE Holdings and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company announced that have entered into a collaboration to study the feasibility of using domestic woody biomass and waste to produce green methanol commercially in Japan.
The two companies will leverage their respective expertise and know-how to pursue the commercial-scale production of green methanol by first conducting a feasibility study at a plant to be built in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
Under this new initiative, TRE will procure woody resources and waste plastics and then process them to supply the raw materials to MGC for methanol production. Woody resources will be procured in collaboration with the Chiba Prefecture Forestry Cooperative to ensure a stable supply in accordance with local forestry management plans, the report said.
