In Brazil, Agro Estadao reported that the gross domestic product (GDP) of the soybean production chain is expected to represent 23% of the Brazilian agribusiness GDP in 2025 and 5.7% of the national economy’s output.
This estimate was released by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) of Esalq/USP, in a study conducted in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (Abiove).
According to estimates, the positive outlook reflects a record soybean harvest in 2024/2025, coupled with the intensification of grain processing by the national industry. With this movement, the GDP of the soybean and biodiesel chain is expected to grow by 11.66% in 2025, the report stated.
The progress is considered significant by researchers, as the projection represents a positive revision of 0.37 percentage points compared to the previous report, indicating the strengthening of the agribusiness sector, it added.}
