In Colorado, the SAFc Registry and Chooose have partnered in a first-of-its-kind software integration to streamline sustainable aviation fuel certificate (SAFc) transactions. Alaska Airlines is the first airline to use the integrated solutions end-to-end. This interoperability improves efficiencies, expands accessibility, and increases transparency in the SAF ecosystem.
Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is highlighted as the most effective technology to lower aviation emissions, potentially reducing carbon intensity by over 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. The SAFc Registry, launched in 2023 by RMI, Environmental Defense Fund, Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA), and Energy Web, creates consistency, transparency, and auditability for SAF environmental attributes. Chooose connects partners to the Registry and centralizes SAF program management.
The collaboration addresses barriers to SAF adoption and aims to accelerate the market for sustainable aviation fuel by making transactions more efficient and accessible. Alaska Airlines’ early adoption underscores its commitment to sustainability and will help enhance its SAF program, offering environmental attributes to various customer segments.
