The Digest’s 2025 Multi-Slide Guide to Upgrading Biogas via CO2 Conversion

In this presentation, researchers chart the progress of a project focused on developing a system for in situ biogas upgrading via biological conversion of CO2 to CH4. The goal is to convert CO2 in biogas to high-quality renewable natural gas (RNG) meeting pipeline specifications. Tasks include technical verification, biological CO2 conversion with membrane-assisted H2 delivery, development of a low-cost thermoelectric generator for waste heat conversion, custom sorbent synthesis for gas cleaning, life cycle analysis, techno-economic assessment, and community outreach. The aim is a scalable biogas upgrading system producing pipeline-quality RNG.
