In China, at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, TFG Marine attended the delivery ceremony of Pearl Lavender, the first of four methanol carriage-ready IMO Type II bunker tankers chartered from Singapore-based Consort Bunkers, as part of a long-term agreement to expand low-carbon fuel infrastructure in the Port of Singapore.
“This agreement is part of TFG Marine’s ongoing efforts to renew our fleet with modern, Mass Flow Meter-equipped bunker barges that are ready to carry the low-carbon fuels that will help shipping decarbonise,” said Kenneth Dam, Global Head of Bunkering at TFG Marine. “We see a multi-fuel future for our industry, with methanol, biofuels, ammonia and more all having a role to play alongside traditional marine fuels in meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement.”
Pearl Lavender, capable of carrying methanol, biofuel blends up to B100, and conventional fuels, will enter service at Singapore in April 2025. S.K. Yeo, General Manager of Consort Bunkers, said the company is “supporting TFG Marine’s goal to take a leading role in providing low-carbon fuels… in this global bunkering hub.”
