In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Polish utility Tauron Polska Energia SA has obtained over $36 million in funding for the construction of a 20-MW green hydrogen production facility in the southern Silesian province.
The subsidy was awarded as part of the “Investments in hydrogen technologies, production, storage and transport of hydrogen” program, administered by Poland’s Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) with KPO resources.
Tauron’s so-called HP-HRS project will be a facility producing 2,800 tons per year of hydrogen, meeting the criteria for renewable fuel of non-biogenic origin (RFNBO). The electrolysis will use electricity from the 100 MW Mysłowice-Dziećkowice photovoltaic farm and wind sources, according to the report.
