In Spain, flavor and fragrance giant Symrise has opened a pentylene glycol production facility in Granada. Trade named Hydrolite® 5 green, the additional capacity enables Symrise to meet rising global demand for the multifunctional cosmetics ingredient, which delivers improved skin hydration and hair fiber enhancement while allowing formulators to create a better sensorial profile and to increase the efficacy of active ingredients.
“The market for pentylene glycol is growing in line with the consumer shift to clean and natural beauty,” says Yohanna Sander, VP Micro Protection Business Unit at Symrise, in a press statement.
The new facility also shortens the supply chain for the biobased product within Europe, helping customers reduce their Scope 3 emissions.
