Sunfire ships first stack for 30-MW hydrogen plant in Germany

October 16, 2025 |

In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that German electrolysis specialist Sunfire has delivered the first pressure\ed alkaline electrolzer stacks for a 30-MW green hydrogen project at the Bad Lauchstadt Energy Park in Germany.

The report noted that Sunfire will supply a total of six high-performance stacks, each consisting of six blocks. Once operational, the wind-powered electrolysis plant will have a capacity to produce up to 4,000 tons of green hydrogen per year.

TotalEnergies has been attracted as an offtaker, with the French energy group set to receive the green hydrogen through a former gas pipeline to its refinery in Leuna.

The Bad Lauchstadt project is led by a consortium including VNG Handel & Vertrieb GmbH, a unit of German gas group VNG AG, and local energy company Uniper, the report added.
