Sumitomo, Be8 partner to export Brazilian SAF to Europe

December 9, 2025 |

In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Sumitomo Corporation do Brasil, a unit of Japanese trader Sumitomo Corp, has teamed up with Brazilian biodiesel producer Be8 for the distribution of sustainable aviation fuel in Europe.

Under the partnership, the duo will aim to supply SAF from Be8’s Omega Green plant, which the Brazilian firm is building in Paraguay, to Northern Europe. Additionally, the companies will seek to jointly develop aviation fuel downstream infrastructure in that region to deliver a complete solution to end customers, according to the report.

Starting in 2029, the partnership will support growing market demand with “competitive supply and downstream solutions,” in line with Europe’s SAF blending goal of at least 6% by 2030. The mandate established under the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation is set to increase to 70% by 2050.

“This partnership with Sumitomo brings together companies with complementary expertise to create a new value chain,” said Erasmo Carlos Battistella, president of Be8.
