SumiSaujana partners China’s CoolisT to develop bio-based polyols

In Malaysia, The Malaysian Reserve reported that Sumisaujana Group Bhd’s wholly owned unit SumiSaujana TCM Chemicals Sdn Bhd (SSTCM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s Zangjiagang CoolisT Life Technology Co Ltd (CoolisT Group) to jointly develop and commercialize bio-based polyols from renewable vegetable oils.

These polyols will be used in polyurethane foams for CoolisT’s furniture and bedding products, according to the report.

The partnership aims to accelerate global adoption of sustainable, bio-based chemical materials that comply with international environmental and performance standards, the report added.

Under the MoU, SSTCM will be able to produce, manufacture, market and sell the bio-based polyol products internationally. The collaboration will remain in effect for two years, unless terminated earlier.
