StoneX cuts Brazil soybean and corn crop estimates

April 6, 2025 |

In Brazil, CNN reported that Brazilian consultancy StoneX stated that Brazil’s 2024/25 soybean harvest was estimated at a record 167.54 million tons, but with a reduction of around 800,000 tons compared to the previous estimate.

The consultancy noted that adverse weather in Rio Grande do Sul state was the main reason for the drop in the estimate, with a cut of more than 1 million tons.

“This adjustment is a result of the climate issues that affected the State, with the lack of rain, combined with high temperatures, impacting crops in key stages of development,” said StoneX.

Other producing states, such as Mato Grosso, compensated for production losses in the South, allowing the country to harvest a crop 11.55% higher than last season, when the weather was detrimental in several regions.

Total corn production was estimated at 129.7 million tons, with cuts in estimates for the first and second harvests. Until February, StoneX estimated Brazilian corn production at 130.86 million tons.
