In Spain, the Port of Málaga announced it supplied 3,000 cubic meters of bioLNG to the container ship MSC Gabon, marking the port’s first bioLNG bunkering operation and expanding its role in clean fuel logistics.
The delivery was carried out by Avenir Aspiration and coordinated by AXPO, the first company authorized to provide LNG bunkering at the port. AXPO had previously completed the port’s first ship-to-ship LNG transfer and is now the first to supply bioLNG in Málaga.
“This operation strengthens the Port of Málaga’s commitment to sustainability and energy transition in maritime transport,” said the port authority. The bioLNG was delivered ship-to-ship and is produced from renewable methane sources.
The milestone confirms Málaga as a strategic point in the Mediterranean for alternative fuel supply. The port is expected to support further bioLNG operations as part of its broader effort to reduce emissions in cargo shipping and offer low-carbon solutions to international operators.
