Soybean planting is progressing rapidly in Argentina, except in flooded areas, exchange says

November 23, 2025 |

In Argentina, Reuters reported that soybean planting in Argentina for the 2025/26 crop advanced 12 percentage points in recent days, covering 24.6% of the 17.6 million hectares planned for cultivation, with some difficulties in flooded areas of Buenos Aires province, according to the latest update by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (BdeC).

Argentina is the world’s largest exporter of soybean oil and meal, and the area dedicated to the oilseed would fall from the 18.4 million hectares sown in the previous season, according to the entity.

“Delays continue in north-central and western Buenos Aires province, where waterlogged soil in some areas is preventing planting from beginning,” the Exchange said. According to a rural association, approximately 1.5 million hectares of farmland are at risk due to flooding.

Regarding the 2025/26 corn crop, the Exchange noted that, with 37.3% of the 7.8 million hectares it anticipates for the cereal already sown, the planting of late corn will begin in the South American country in the coming days.
