Sorghum farmer highlights trade opportunities with Ag Secretary Rollins

February 23, 2025 |

In Kansas, Brownfield reported that a western Kansas farmer said sorghum can play a role in helping the US Government expand trade opportunities in countries like India.

Amy France participated in a roundtable discussion with newly confirmed Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins earlier this week.

“We do have a hurdle, a 50% tariff, but we’ve heard her say she wants to make agriculture great again, and so I just told the secretary I think sorghum can help you achieve those goals, and really a solution to expanding markets,” she said.

The Trump administration has announced it wants to boost bilateral trade between the two countries. France believes that this intention could mean increased exports for sorghum.

“They need sorghum now. They needed it yesterday and sorghum fits in very well, especially being that non GMO for them and no tannin,” she said.
