In Spain, La Vanguardia reported that Solarig announced its plans to develop a sustainable aviation fuel plant on 10 hectares of the Teruel Logistics Platform (Platea). The initiative will require an an investment of $1.20 billion that will create some 1,200 direct and indirect jobs, according to the report. This project, called ‘Turboleta’, is expected to begin construction in 2027 and will be fully operational before 2030 with a production of 75,000 tons per year, the equivalent of 33,000 flights between Zaragoza and London at 50% SAF. Solarig is confident of obtaining European funding for its plan, which is why it has submitted the ‘Turboleta’ project to the “Incentive Program for renewable hydrogen production and consumption projects” called by IDEA (Institute for the diversification and saving of energy), a call for proposals financed through Next Generation EU Funds, the report added.
