SOCAR Turkey and Turkish Airlines agrees to SAF collaboration
In Turkey, a “Reconciliation Memorandum” was signed recently between SOCAR Turkey and Turkish Airlines, which includes cooperation in the field of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). While the senior managers of both institutions attended the ceremony, the signed memorandum was considered as a strategic step in terms of sustainability-oriented transformation in the energy and aviation sectors.
Speaking at the ceremony, SOCAR Turkey CEO Elchin Ibadov stressed that sustainability is one of the main priorities of SOCAR Turkey. “As SOCAR Turkey, we have a strong infrastructure in the production of sustainable aviation fuel thanks to our high production capacity, advanced refinery technologies, digitalization-oriented modern operations and R&D efforts. Our technical knowledge in the energy sector and our integrated business model offer us the opportunity to produce not only today’s fuels but also the future.
With the awareness of our responsibility to the future, we see sustainability as an integral part of our way of doing business; we act with a transformation approach that takes care of environmental and social impacts. In line with this understanding, this strategic step with Turkish Airlines is an initiative that will contribute to a more sustainable world vision not only for our sectors but also for future generations. By evaluating Turkey’s strategic position in the aviation sector, we are pleased to carry out this process together with a strong world brand such as Turkish Airlines.
