SkyNRG Secures environmental clearances for Wallula SAF facility

January 13, 2026 |

In India, BioEnergy Times reported that SkyNRG announced that its Project Wigeon, a sustainable aviation fuel facility planned for Wallula, Washington, has received crucial environmental approvals from both the Washington State Department of Ecology and Walla Walla County.

The approvals confirm that Project Wigeon complies with state and local environmental regulations, covering land use, water protection, and fuel transportation standards.

Slated for construction within the Wallula Gap Industrial Business Park at the Port of Walla Walla, Project Wigeon is set to become one of North America’s first commercial-scale SAF operations producing jet fuel from renewable natural gas (RNG).

The facility will convert RNG feedstocks—also called biogenic methane—into sustainable aviation fuel. These feedstocks are sourced from landfills, wastewater treatment plants, and livestock manure, and can be delivered to the Wallula site via existing pipelines and infrastructure, according to the report.
