In Singapore, the Maritime and Port Authority announced on November 26 that Global Energy Trading, Golden Island, and PetroChina International will receive licenses to supply methanol as marine fuel starting January 1, 2026.
Suppliers were selected based on supply chain reliability, safety systems, operational readiness, and sustainability certification. MPA said the licenses will support early market development by giving suppliers time to build capacity and anchor investment.
“This marks an important step towards establishing methanol bunkering at scale,” MPA stated, adding that the licensing framework will be updated as new technologies and global standards evolve.
