In Singapore, The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore announced revisions to its Maritime Singapore Green Initiative, enhancing incentives for ocean-going vessels using clean fuels and technologies. Effective January 1, 2025, the Green Port Programme will merge with the enhanced Green Ship Programme, providing stronger financial incentives for ships adopting eco-friendly operations.
Under the new GSP – Green Port framework, vessels utilizing zero-emission fuels or technologies, such as hydrogen or full electrification, will enjoy a 100% concession on port dues for stays of up to four days. Similarly, vessels running on zero-carbon fuels like green methanol or ammonia, with emissions controls in place, will also qualify for a full dues waiver. Ships using low-carbon fuels, including biofuels and LNG with reduced methane slip, can receive concessions of up to 30%.
To participate, shipowners or operators must register their vessels through the digitalPORT@SG platform before arrival in Singapore and maintain compliance throughout their port stay. Vessels previously enrolled in the GPP must re-register under the new criteria to continue receiving benefits. The programme will run through December 31, 2027.
