In Singapore, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore is updating its Green Ship Program, offering incentives for Singapore-registered vessels using low- and zero-emission fuel technologies, starting January 1, 2025. Ships that adopt zero-emission engines, like hydrogen or electric batteries, will qualify for a 100% waiver on both initial registration fees and annual tonnage tax. Vessels using near-zero emission fuels, such as ammonia, will receive a 100% waiver on registration fees and an 80% reduction on tonnage tax.
Ships running on low-carbon fuels, with emissions within specified limits, can save up to 75% on registration and 50% on annual tax, while those that exceed international efficiency standards may qualify for a 20% tax reduction, with additional concessions available for top environmental ratings.
