In Singapore, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines inked a wide-ranging memorandum of understanding with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, committing to collaborate on decarbonization, digitalization, and workforce development across the maritime sector.

The agreement aims to bolster efforts in reducing emissions through next-generation fuels like ammonia and hydrogen, improve voyage efficiency with digital tools, and train a modern maritime workforce. MOL President Takeshi Hashimoto lauded MPA’s “enthusiasm and energy” and emphasized the partnership’s potential to propel the maritime industry toward sustainability.

MPA Chief Executive Teo Eng Dih highlighted Singapore’s role as a “hub port” and underscored the MoU’s scope, from cybersecurity innovations to fostering a marine tech startup ecosystem.
