SEFE Securing Energy for Europe sells mobility unit to Germany’s biogeen
In Germany, Carlsquare advised SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH on the sale of its subsidiary SEFE Mobility GmbH to biogeen GmbH, a leading German producer of biogas and biomethane. The transaction strengthens biogeen’s downstream footprint and supports SEFE’s strategic focus on core energy operations.
SEFE Mobility operates one of Germany’s largest bioCNG refueling networks, with 35 stations in Germany and 16 in the Czech Republic. The company supplies commercial fleets, municipal operators, and logistics customers with renewable fuel and delivered approximately 8.3 million kilograms of bioCNG in 2024. With reliable infrastructure, secure fuel supply, and long-standing customer relationships, SEFE Mobility plays a central role in enabling fleet operators to meet tightening emissions standards and advance their decarbonization strategies.
biogeen GmbH, headquartered in Münster, Germany, is a leading operator of biogas plants in Germany and specializes in the production and marketing of renewable energies including bioelectricity, bioheat, bioLNG, and biomethane. The company operates multiple biomethane production facilities across Germany with substantial annual production capacity.
The acquisition creates a vertically integrated renewable gas platform that connects biogeen’s upstream production with SEFE Mobility’s downstream distribution network. This strengthens supply security for mobility customers and positions the combined platform to benefit from rising demand driven by GHG quota requirements and EU decarbonization policies. For SEFE, the divestment aligns with a renewed focus on core energy operations.
