In Canada, Seaspan Energy announced a partnership with Anew Climate to supply ISCC-certified renewable liquefied natural gas to maritime customers along the North American West Coast, calling it a first for the region.
Anew will provide renewable natural gas certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification system and carry out pre-audit work for Seaspan’s own certification. The fuel will meet standards under the International Maritime Organization’s Net-Zero Framework and the EU’s FuelEU Maritime Regulation.
Seaspan, a leading LNG bunkering provider, will add certified R-LNG deliveries at scale to its portfolio. Anew, then known as Element Markets, handled the first U.S. bio-LNG bunkering in 2021.
The companies say the service aligns with emerging IMO measures that encourage the use of alternative fuels and will focus on developing commercial opportunities to deliver ISCC-certified R-LNG to ships throughout the region.
