In Norway, Sea1 Offshore has ordered two new methanol-ready Offshore Energy Support Vessels from Chinese shipyard Cosco Shipping, featuring emissions-reducing technology, including generators capable of running on 100% biofuel, to be delivered in 2027. The vessels will be equipped with a remotely operated vehicle hangar and wet deck access, enhancing their versatility for offshore operations, including oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors.
Bernt Omdal, CEO of Sea1, emphasized that the new investment is part of the company’s growth strategy to strengthen its position in the global energy sector. He noted, “Chartering contracts and rates are on the rise in the offshore sector, and we expect good earning potential for players who can provide modern and well-equipped ships to the market.”
The vessels are designed to maximize operational efficiency and reduce emissions, supporting Sea1’s commitment to sustainability. With the new additions, Sea1 Offshore will operate a total of 19 modern offshore vessels, supporting both traditional and renewable offshore markets as demand grows.
