Sarawak targets cleaner hydrogen with Siemens partnership

In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that the Government of Sarawak, in Malaysia, is confident that hydrogen production costs can be reduced to just 10 kilowatt-hours per kilogram (kWh/kg), compared to the current rate of 30 kWh/kg. Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that this goal could be achieved through a collaboration with German energy company, Siemens Energy, according to the report. He said the partnership aims to produce hydrogen more efficiently and with lower energy consumption. “There is potential to reduce the cost even further. Through our ongoing collaboration with Siemens, we are targeting energy use of about 10 kWh/kg of hydrogen.
