Samsung Heavy Industries contracts for three more ultra-large carriers running on biofuels

In South Korea, Chosun newspaper reports Samsung Heavy Industries has signed a construction contract for three ultra-large carriers worth 742.2 billion won with an Asian shipowner. The ships are scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner by December 2027.

Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries’ cumulative order amount for this year is approximately $7.3 billion (36 ships in total), achieving 75% of its annual target of $9.7 billion. Of these, eco-friendly fuel ships such as LNG, ammonia, and ethanol account for 86% (31 ships) of the total contracted ships.
