Safras & Mercado adjusts soybean production in Argentina to 50.5 million tons

May 18, 2025 |

In Brazil, Safras reported that it has adjusted its Argentine harvest forecast for the 2024/25 season, increasing its forecast from 48.4 million tons expected in February due to adverse weather conditions to 50.5 million tons.

Analyst Agustin Geier explained that early soybean yields in the core zone were much higher than expected, and despite the severe drought that crops experienced in January and the damage caused, grain fill significantly compensated, exceeding expectations.

The weighted average yield expected for the current 2024/25 crop season also improved from the 2,633 kg/ha expected in February to 2,851 kg/ha, according to the new estimate.

The analyst explains that the improvements in yield per hectare were primarily seen in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Santa Fe, which contribute the most to the total, but he also noted an increase in the provinces of La Pampa and Entre Ríos.
